Re: My AU German navy
I count six different gun armaments on that destroyer. A bit much, unless some are firing the same ammunition.

Re: SUSA
Thanks Shipright. I really am searching for realistic solution for Manned Mars Mission, so I'm pleased of your remarks. Those blue ones are solar panels and brown are radiators. Maybe there could be radiators in gravity wheel? (not visible...) How could I calculate radiator need? You can certainly ...

Re: SUSA
I only say this because you are obviously are going for realistic detail, otherwise It’s just nitpicking, but solar panels (or maybe radiators?) are well outside the NSTRs shadow and will backskatter radiation onto the rest of the ship. I’d also say your propellant stores should be at least a few tim ...

Re: Ocean liner challenge
Is there a size of capacity requirement? What would be used to qualify it as a "liner" vice just a super yacht? Can it be a multi use vessel, like a cargo ship with non trivial passenger accommodations, or visa versa?

Re: HNoMS Helge Ingstad have collided
- the frigate watertight compartment are water tight they are also air tight, chemically tight etc. due to operation area of this ship, heck even our coast guard ships are build to be exposed to chemically and airborne radioactivity. if the watertight compartment didn't work.... oh wait Chemical ...

Re: HNoMS Helge Ingstad have collided
There is no way that they are going to repair her. It was a maybe when she was awash up to her deck. Once her combat system suite went under that was all she wrote. She has been under water for a month now. Even if they did get all the water tight doors shut she is not a submarine. there are always ...

Re: HNoMS Helge Ingstad have collided
Some quick thoughts on communications and rules of the road, having had the deck in busy coastal waters myself: 1.) Vessels getting underway are required to announce this via a security call on standard VHF channels. Example: "Security, Security, Security. This is vessel XXX getting underway from ...

Re: CL-145 Roanoke 1991
Didn't the Iowa class battleships operate SH-60s in the 1990s? I'm not disagreeing with you, just don't know for sure ;) If by operate with you mean could accommodate on its flight deck, sure. And given the SH-60 was well into the USN inventory by then I am sure it made an appearance there on ...

Re: CL-145 Roanoke 1991
I really like this, congratulations on another great drawing! If I could make a minor suggestion, the SH-60 feels wrong. They were still relatively new in 1991 and were primarily ASW platforms at this time. Without a hanger I doubt it would operate with an SH-60 varient. I would switch it to a ...

Re: Notional 9000tFL USN FFG with THE POWER OF THE ATOM
Being a combatant ship driver, I would say that rarely is something as large as a .50 put on the bridge wings. The Burks and Ticos put M60s or now 240Bs on the wings if they put anything there at all. What the wings are used for primarily is for UNREPs. I can't imagine doing one from an enclosed ...
