Re: Export Light Frigate Challenge

Hi everyone! F-2800-Class Frigate During the 1970s, the French developed a series of export frigates in three sizes: The C-1800 corvette (no sales), the F-2000 frigate (four sold to Saudi-Arabia) and the F-2800 frigate, the most successful type, of which four each were purchased by Chile and ...

Re: Chilean Crucier O´higgins CL-02 Ex Uss Brookling

Happened to me a couple of times too. Whenever I copy/paste a large chunk of pixels in the current version of MS paint. That tool is no longer useful, I'm afraid.

Re: Some current French ships

Hello again

OK, changed the turret. Seems easy to hide stuff from me in plain sight...

Re: Some current French ships

Hi Ace and Heuhen As a matter of fact, the turret is not an official part at all, I made it for FREMM (references for FREMM were somewhat better and more detailed than for Horizon). To me - also in comparision with photographs - it looks OK, although that might just be me. I've not found the ...

Re: Some current French ships

Hi all! Horizon-class Frigate (French version) These two ships are what's left of France's plan to procure eight air defence destroyers in a joint project with Italy and Great Britain; when the project was launched in the 1990s, no less than 26 units were planned (12 for the UK, 8 for France and 6 ...

Re: Some current French ships

Hello again! FREMM-Class Frigates Out of 17 planned units, only eight were built, six to replace the Georges-Leygues-class in the ASW role, two to replace the Cassard-class as AAW platforms. Compared with their Italian counterparts, they appeared austere (despite being more expensive), featuring a ...

Some current French ships

Hello again! The first French post-cold-war warship class and the first European Stealth warship: The La Fayette-Class frigates. Although designed in the 1980s, these ships already were tailored to post cold war requirements. They lacked ASW capability, being primary anti-air and antisurface ...

Re: Some French Cold War ships

Hello everyone! And the other anti-air cruiser: De Grasse. As finished, she had the same armament as the later, slightly smaller Colbert: 16 127mm DP guns and 20 57mm AA guns. She bore no resemblance anymore to her original 1938 design; in a somewhat anachronistic move, the transom stern was ...

Re: Some French Cold War ships

Hello again! OK, the Forum seems to work better now, although everything still takes eons. Next entry: French cruiser Colbert after her 1967-1970 refit as anti-air missile cruiser. Her original configuration was drastically changed, landing all 127mm guns and half her 57mm pieces; the main armament ...
