Re: Real, but Fictional Ships
Beautiful drawings. One minor nitpick - on your drawing of Guerriero in 1956, the inclusion of the Mk 32 triple torpedo tubes is a bit too early for the time period. As far as I’m aware, they didn’t enter US Navy service until 1960, and most NATO navies didn’t start introducing the launcher until the ...

Re: HMCS Bras DOr
Good morning, guys. May I ask a question about the towed sonar and the numerous (12) torpedo tubes? Is the very high speed of a hydrofoil vessel compatible with the ASW missions? I mean, is the high speed silent enough for having a good search and hunt capability of a sumerged submrine? Cheers and ...

Re: HMCS Bras DOr
I’ve never seen that image posted by Paul - it seems to me to be a model based on the hull of the Bras d’Or but with a totally different superstructure and perhaps propulsion setup as well. I’d love to hear more on the back story for that image/model and see what the source is. What we do have is thi ...

Re: Some French Cold War ships
Incredible work in this thread - there are too many excellent drawings to comment on each one individually. Suffice to say, it’s great to see these French warships drawn with such attention to detail and in a unified style. The Colbert in particular is a fantastic drawing along with the Suffrens - I’ ...

Re: HMCS BONAVENTURE CVL-22 REDUX
Really fantastic work here Paul! The Bonaventure was an important part of Canadian naval history and it’s great to see her rendered in such detail. It’s a great shame she wasn’t kept around longer. Richard Mayne’s well-known thesis The Annapolis Riddle goes into some detail about how a purchase of 25 ...

Re: Canada's Cold War Cadillacs - Destroyer Escorts of the RCN
Continuing on with this project, slowly but surely! We're getting close to the end now. Part Three: Mackenzie - class Destroyer Escorts The initial design for what became known as the Mackenzie - class was for an enlarged version of the St. Laurent - class destroyer escorts. Designed in 1957, they ...

Re: America the Divided
Interesting. Why does a Coast Guard-operated OPV need to be armed with torpedoes? I don’t see any hull-mounted sonar, is there a towed array or some other method by which this vessel can track and pursue a submarine contact?
